In a world where violence forces thousands of families to flee each day, the time is now to show that the global public stands with refugees. June 20th has been declared World Refugee Day. World Refugee Day is an occasion to build empathy and to recognise the resilience of #refugees in rebuilding their lives.
World Refugee Day shines a light on the rights, needs, and dreams of refugees, helping to mobilise political will and resources so refugees can survive and thrive. Each year, World Refugee Day is marked by various events in many countries around the globe in support of refugees. However, it is also important to reiterate that anyone could become a refugee and that, at this moment, those who aren't are just circumstantially lucky.
Join us, Rethinking Refugees online and in Warsaw, between June 17th and June 20th for a series of workshops, webinars, panel discussions, and a concert to stand in solidarity with refugees during these days.
The event is titled "Kiran - Elevating Inclusivity & Mental Well-being." Kiran in Hindi/Urdu means a ray of light. We hope to emulate that idea in bringing forward a ray of hope and resilience through our events. The event's focus will be on inclusivity. We will reiterate that all refugees are refugees barring the colour of their skin or place of origin. We also want to highlight the importance of mental health amongst the refugee population.
So join us in raising awareness and standing in solidarity with refugees worldwide to #rethinkrefugees together.
