Stories of Survival Speaker Series

Take Part in the Stories of Survival Speaker Series. Listen to the story of a Burundi community member finding home in Greater Cincinnati. As a child, this young Cincinnati student experienced the same refugee camp that many Bhutanese refugees still experience today. Originally resettled in another city, learn what brought them to Cincinnati and how they’re creating a welcoming space for other refugee students at a local university. Over 80,000 Bhutanese fled Bhutan after the North declared the South a threat to the political order. Southern Bhutanese fled to India and Nepal to avoid imprisonment and torture. Since 2010, 22,000 refugees have ended up in the United States.
