The State of Florida Inclusion Expo
The Forward Together Florida Coalition is thrilled to announce The State of Florida Inclusion Expo is a gathering of the key contributors to the Learn, Share, Change Project, celebrating the culmination of nearly two years of work with the release of the Blueprint for Increasing Inclusivity for Immigrants. The Expo will run from 1:00pm EST until 5:00pm EST on Friday, June 25th, and from 12:00pm EST until 5:00pm EST on Saturday, June 26th.
The Learn component of the project comprised a virtual exhibit telling the three stories of refugee arrivals to the United States, a set of articles published on Mediums detailing the eight refugee or immigrant stories, and the Forward Together Survey, which polled Florida citizens on their impressions on the inclusion of immigrants within their communities. The Share component of the project consisted of a set of cooking class videos called Hearty Tables, blending storytelling and culinary culture. The Change component of the project featured six webinars providing resources for the general public to learn about issues facing immigrants and refugees.
Finally, a Blueprint meant to create a replicable set of activities to understand and improve attitudes towards immigrants was generated and will be highlighted during this expo. Facilitated by the coalition with the help of many partner universities, the “Blueprint” compiles background research, discussion of key issues, data analysis, and a roadmap and conclusion born of this work.
