Stand for Welcome - Rise for Refuge
Join us as we Rise for Refuge! The cap for refugee resettlement for 2020 will be set by Sept. 30. In the past few years, the total number of resettled refugees has continued to decrease drastically. Last year it reached its lowest number since the program began. Some administration officials have proposed further slashing the number of refugees resettled again, potentially to zero. Zeroing out refugee resettlement means families may wait years to reunite with family members abroad or never be reunited at all. It means that during the worst refugee crisis in human history, America will no longer be the beacon of freedom it has always been.
Refugees contribute untold amounts to Lancaster’s economic, social and cultural life. Come join us to encourage our representatives in congress and other elected officials to do the right thing and tell the administration that we must not turn our backs on those seeking refuge in our country. Please come stand with us and show your support for the refugees in our communities and for the future refugees to come.
