World Refugee Day honors the strength and courage of refugees and encourages public awareness and support for people who have had to flee their homelands because of conflict or natural disaster.
To raise awareness within our own community we'll be hosting a special market on June 22nd 8am - 12pm, to celebrate our diverse community and show support.
Phoenix Public Market and the International Rescue Committee are committed to supporting families in Arizona. Meet the market families, hear their stories, and support their businesses.
9am | Karen Culture Organization of Arizona will be sharing their traditional Don Dance, which uses intricate movements to symbolize the history of village life in Burma, while displaying the solidarity that continues to bring the Karen community together as they work to rebuild their lives in Arizona.
10am | Cooking Demonstration with Nabiha (Habbouz Tunisian Cuisine)
Don't miss this wonderful programming, including our balloon artist and face painter Ibtisam Mohamed.
In the afternoon, join the International Rescue Committee and their many partners at Camelback Highschool to celebrate World Refugee Day with food, cultural booths, and a talent show. This event is family friendly, free and open to the public. See event details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2267822736825420
