Stand with Refugees and Immigrants
February marks the one-year anniversary of Utah’s March for Refugees. Thousands of you showed up to protest the travel ban and listen to the experiences of our local refugees. Then, in September, you gathered once more to stand with DREAMERs affected by the end of DACA. Sadly, the futures of both refugees and DREAMERs remain to be uncertain. Refugees continue to be admitted at historic lows, and the United States is not even on track to hit its meager 45,000 target. DREAMERS face a looming government shut down that may result in their expulsion from the country. We can and must do better. It’s time to act and tell our representatives to protect the DREAMERs and push the Trump Administration to step up refugee admissions.
Luckily, there is a way you can petition your representatives, support local refugee/immigrant-owned business, and eat good food all in one night! Join us at Bhutan House, a restaurant run by Bhutanese immigrants, on Wednesday, February 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We will have postcards you can write that are pre-addressed to Utah representatives Rob Bishop, Chris Stewart, John Curtis, and Mia Love as well as Senators Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch. Don’t know you your rep is? We will also stamp and mail the postcard for you but ask that you bring .35 cents for the stamp. Really, all you need to do is show up with spare change in your pocket and eat authentic Bhutanese! Show up any time between 6:00 and 8:00 and we’ll be waiting for you!
March for Refugees will be sharing other ways to support immigrants and refugees throughout the month of February. Be sure to visitwww.march4refugees.org to sign up for our news letter and find out how you can make a difference.
Can't make it on the 7th? Join us at Laan Na Thai the day before on 6th:https://www.facebook.com/events/2079961942233671/
