Where are the Refugees

On January 27th, 2017, the president signed an executive order that changed the course of the refugee resettlement program. Referred to as the Muslim Ban, the executive order put a 90-day ban on travelers from 7 different Muslim-marjority countries from entering the US, put a 120-day moratorium on the refugee admissions program, indefinitely banned Syrian refugee from coming, and limited the 2017 national cap of refugees from 110,000 to 50,000. This executive order was detrimental to refugees and immigrants worldwide.

his year, on the anniversary of the travel ban, World Relief is inviting their trusted network to join them in a demonstration at SeaTac. We will engage in a peaceful demonstration of solidarity for those who have already fled violence and for those who are still waiting to find peace and safety.

This will take place from 11AM-1PM. There will be multiple stations throughout the area for you to demonstrate and show solidarity for refugees. Due to permitting restrictions and safety concerns, WE WILL NOT BE ENTERING THE AIRPORT.

Though we would like ALL to join in this demonstration with us, we have limited capacity for this event. We've been granted permits for specific areas of demonstration. These details will be revealed to the team once all the Eventbrite tickets are accounted for. If you have more specific questions, please contact Celiz Aguilar at caguilar@wr.org. She'd be happy to clear anything up for you!

We’re so looking forward to demonstrating with you all!
